For accounting firms
Are your clients’ books ready for KMD-2027?
According to the Estonian Tax and Customs Board (MTA), from 1 April 2027 the accountant no longer fills in the VAT return (KMD) but sends transaction data straight from the software (XBRL GL), and MTA computes the tax. For payroll (TSD) the same starts on 1 October 2026. Every wrong VAT code, undocumented entry or invoice that arrives as a PDF becomes a visible error – across all your clients’ books at once.

What we check
Which program each client uses (Merit, Directo, SimplBooks, e-arveldaja, Excel…) and whether it supports data-based reporting and the machine interface. Who must switch, who must upgrade.
Wrong or missing tax rate, transactions without a counterparty, entries without a document, duplicates, differences between KMD and the ledger over the last 12 months.
What share of each client’s invoices arrives as e-invoices and what share as PDF, photo or paper – the places where data breaks during manual entry.
Who sends documents late, who sends them in a mess, whose chart of accounts is outdated. A list of who to talk to before 2027.
What you get
- A report per client in three colours: ready / needs fixes / needs a software change.
- A prioritised fix plan: what to do now, what before year end, what before April 2027.
- A letter template for your clients in Estonian and Russian (document routine, moving to e-invoices).
- A one-hour review with your team; the checklist stays with the firm.

Prices exclude VAT. For the first ten firms the check is −50% — in exchange for a short written testimonial we may publish.
How it works
- NDA and read-only access to the books (export or API). We change nothing.
- The check runs in the EU; we delete the exports 30 days after handing over the report.
- Report, plan and review. The checklist stays with the firm — you continue yourself; on request we help with fixes on a quote.
MTA publishes the technical requirements (taxonomy, XBRL GL) in stages; the format is delivered by the software vendors. Our work is data quality and client habits. We update the checklist after every MTA newsletter and send it free to everyone who had the check.
